It's too crowded in the stores, the roads are like parking lots, people are rude. I mean, I like shopping for stuff, but around the holiday season, especially Black Friday, you couldn't pay me to go out. It's new people joining EN MASSE at one time. Whether or not you use it, you're still paying, or you can cancel and pay a hefty fee which depending on how late you cancel, is more expensive than letting the contract run out.īesides, again, the problem isn't new people joining the gym. So if what you say is true, there must be very, very, VERY few gyms.īut clearly there aren't. Every year, without fail, most of the people who start at the beginning don't stick it out. Then come June the OP will rant because the resolutioners went back to being couch potatoes and the gym closed due to lack of business.īy that logic no gyms should exist because none of them have the clients. He went back and forth from the preacher bench to the squat rack all evening and never unracked the barbell. It seemed like he was doing curls and shrugs. He stayed on there for the next 1.5 hours until I left at closing time. He had walked away and left the barbell racked. This guy was on the squate rack that I normally use. The ones grunting are the ones complaining about the New Years Resolution crowd. Taking up the squat rack doing pull-ups or reverse curls. I think that is the cut-off tee/beach shirt type, doing endless cable pull-downs and bicep curls. I don't think the resolutioners' are the ones grunting. ![]() Maybe people that have been doing it for a while aren't supportive and you quit. What if you were to try something new, not knowing if you would keep it up. It is extremely difficult to go from being an unhealthy slob and then jump into a full, unrelenting routine.Ī New Years Resolution is stupid? Or trying something new to improve oneself is stupid? Or, these people thinking that trying something new to improve themselves, makes them stupid? The fact that people have the motivation to sign up and start to do something about their health could just be the first step for them. Unhealthier people typically seem to have better attitudes towards other people and life in general. And to this day I still can't stand snobby, healthy people and I am proud to say that it is rare to come across someone healthier/fitter than myself. there are many stories similar to mine out there. Thirdly, not all "resolutioners" are failures I completely transformed my body and lifestyle due to a New Years resolution and that was years ago. I don't ridicule people who want to better themselves, even the ones who don't know what they're doing, maybe someday they will figure it out. ![]() Secondly, for the most part, people's intentions are good. First off, they are a statistic and will still be gone soon enough so no need to whine about it.
